Sunday, July 5th, 2015 - An outing and a Picnic

Shorts Hikes - Labrador Hollow and Tinkers Falls - And a Picnic

CHANGE
  •  to
  • Labrador Hollow Unique Area

Route 91 and Labrador Crossroads Road, Apulia, NY,Apulia, NY (edit map)
  • Join naturalist and author Roger Fulton on a couple of short and relatively easy nature hikes. We will initially meet at the Labrador Hollow Unique Area at 3 pm and take a .5 mile stroll along the flat composite boardwalk out into the unique ecological area adjacent to Labrador Pond. This area contains unique vegetation, and we will explain why.
After that we will make our way on foot or by carpool up to the short Tinkers Falls Trail to a very pretty waterfall. That one is a little more demanding, but if you are in reasonable shape it should be no problem. Good footwear is recommended. Y'all might also bring some bug spray and water.
Then we shall return to the Boardwalk area for a picnic dinner. Bring a sub and anything else you want for a self-contained picnic dinner with friends. We don't supply anything on this outing except some knowledge and friendship.
Sorry, no dogs or young children on this outing. For a reservation contact Roger via email at: Roger@RogerFulton.com.

Longest Day Hike - June 21st

  • Sunday, July 21, 2015 – Longest Day hike
Join me on the longest day of the summer on an evening nature hike at Lime Hollow Nature Center, just outside of Cortland, NY from 6-8 pm. Enjoy this rare evening hike as the wildlife heads for their safe havens for their nightly rest. The relatively easy trails will cover about 2.5 miles and will be a good way for Dad to walk off some of that great Father’s Day dinner. Meet at the Nature Center at 338 McLean Rd., Cortland, NY 13045 at 5:45. Good footwear, water and a good attitude are recommended. Heavy rain or thunderstorms cancel.
Space is limited on this hike so you must make an advance reservation by contacting Roger at Roger@RogerFulton.com. Your friends are welcome as well. Just include them on your RSVP.
Roger Fulton is a noted outdoor author of several regional hiking, biking and canoeing/kayaking guides for New York and Florida, including his signature book, Safe in the Woods. www.RogerFulton.com
